Mechanical Properties of Concrete with Different Carya Cathayensis Peel Biochar Additions

Producing biochar by consuming biomass is an effective way to reduce the environmental impact from waste. This study investigates influence of made carya cathayensis peel waste, which a specific in Zhejiang province, China, on concrete basic mechanical properties. The was added into mixtures three different patterns, including: (1) additional filler at ratio 1%, 2%, 3%, 4% and 5% cement weight, (2) partial-cement replacement (3) partial sand 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25% volume. strength, porosity microstructures were experimentally investigated compared with plain concrete. highest strength increase appears addition 5 % sand-replacement volume, compressive splitting 16.7% 27.4%, respectively. ITZ between particles cementitious matrix tighter glossier than ones matrix. findings suggest that can be applied as sustainable admixture improve properties when used substitute. optimized method suggested replacing 10% offers interdisciplinary attempt valorizing waste producing green building construction materials.
